Purpose of We The People

Over the last few years, it became apparent to us that many people whom we encountered had little understanding of the American governmental processes.  Feeling that an uninformed public is a threat to our democracy, we set about to try to explain how this unique experiment we call America works.  In this journey, and in spite of our education in government and our lifelong experience as an activist we came to understand that we probably understood the least.

So we set out to explain this unique way in which we Americans govern ourselves.  This blog will attempt not to take sides but to explain the "nuts and bolts" of the machinery of our American form of government.  We hope that be you a Republican, a Democrat, a Liberal, a Conservative or whatever else you call yourself to be you will be able to be armed with the understanding of how we as Americans do what we do..
